American Eagle Silver Coins from the United States Mint comes in three different versions. After launching in 1986 with a bullion and proof version of the coin, the US Mint celebrated the 20th anniversary of the series in 2006 with the introduction of a third, burnished coin. The burnished coin offered a second collectible item to numismatists. The bullion coin remains the most in-demand version of the three. Provident Metals currently offers 1988 American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins to you for purchase online in near-perfect condition.

Obverse

The obverse face of 1988 American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins includes a vision of Liberty known as Walking Liberty. Designed in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman, it was first used on the US half dollar until 1947 and revived in 1986 as the primary design of the new American Eagle Silver Coins. It is currently in use on all three versions of the American Eagle Silver Coin.

Reverse

On the reverse side of the 1988 American Eagle Silver Coin is a depiction of the heraldic eagle of the United States. This iconic symbol of the government was first designed in 1792 by Robert Scot and has been modified for subsequent use on various denominations of American coinage. John Mercanti developed this modification of the design in 1986 for the American Eagle Silver Coin Series.

History
