The United States Mint introduced the American Eagle Silver Coin program in 1986. The series originally featured bullion and proof versions of the coin, with a second collectible coin offered starting in 2006 with the burnished option. Today, you have the chance to get near-perfect 1990 American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
American Eagle Silver Coins are only available to purchase in 1 oz silver coins. This applies to the Brilliant Uncirculated version of the coin, the proof version of the coin, and the more recent burnished version of the coin. While the proof and burnished coins are struck to meet demand and can be suspended in times where silver blanks are needed for other production, the US Mint always strikes the BU version of the coin to meet demand and is legally obligated to do so.
Obverse
On the obverse side of 1990 American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins is an image known as Walking Liberty. Designed in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman, this bust of Liberty shows her figure in left-profile relief walking toward the sun as it crests a mountain peak in the distance. With the American flag over her shoulder, she walks with her right hand outstretched toward the sun and her left hand carrying branches of oak and laurel.
Reverse
The reverse face of the 1990 American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin includes the most recent design of the heraldic eagle of the United States. The eagle has the US national shield on its chest with the arrows of war in one talon and the olive branch of peace in the other. There is a triangular cluster of 13 stars over its head.
History
1990 American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins had a mintage of just over 5.8 million, marking a second straight year of increased demand and it was the second date mark to surpass the 5.3 million coins sold during the 1986 debut release.
