History

Argor-Heraeus was founded in 1951 as Argor SA. The refinery was acquired by Union Bank of Switzerland, UBS, in 1973. Together, the companies developed the new Kinebar technology for increase visual brilliance and greater security against counterfeiting. The Kinebar takes the form of a kinegram embossed on the reverse substrate of the bar. It is a one-of-a-kind hologram found only on Argor-Heraeus bars.
