This coin also has a proof finish, meaning that the designs on the obverse and reverse are frosted while the backgrounds are mirrored. History

1987 marks the year that the American Gold Eagle Coin collection was first introduced and put onto the bullion market. However, it wasnt until 1988 that the 1/10 oz coin joined this collection. The Philadelphia Mint originally produced these fractional-weight coins, but after 1993, production of all weights permanently moved to the West Point Mint. The W mint marking featured on this coin indicates that it was minted by West Point.

Obverse

The image of Lady Liberty shown on the obverse of the 2000-W Proof American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coin was inspired by a design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens that was featured on United States twenty-dollar coin pieces from 1907 to 1933. The obverse of this coin shows Lady Liberty walking forward with absolute radiance. She holds an olive branch in one hand and a torch in the other.

Reverse

A family of eagles, created by the renowned artist Miley Busiek, is pictured on the reverse of the 2000-W Proof American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coin. In this image, a female eagle waits patiently in a nest with her hatchlings, while a male eagle flies overhead. In his talons, he carries an olive branch. There are certain specs of the coin also included on the reverse, which are the coins value, weight, and purity.
