Walking Liberty was eventually chosen for the half dollar and featured on that denomination through 1947 before being revived in 1986 as the face of the American Eagle Silver bullion series.

History

The 2005 American Eagle Silver Coin had a mintage of 8,891,025 coins. The growth in mintage from 2004 to 2005 was one of the most minuscule increases in the history of the program. The 2004 coin sold a total of 8,882,754, making the increase from 2004 to 2005 a scant 9,000 coins. The next year, 2006, would see demand for the coins shoot to a temporary second-highest mintage of 10.6 million coins on the 20th anniversary of the series.
