When you purchase a 2005 American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin through this product listing, the item you receive comes with a near-perfect certification. These flaws are limited in nature to minuscule contact marks or hairlines and limited in scope to the areas outside of the primary focal points of the coin.

Obverse

The obverse face of the 2005 American Eagle Silver Coin features an image known as Walking Liberty. Designed in 1916, it was created by Adolph A. Weinman for a US Mint artistic contest to find replacement designs for the Barber Coinage Series. Walking Liberty was eventually chosen for the half dollar and featured on that denomination through 1947 before being revived in 1986 as the face of the American Eagle Silver bullion series.

Reverse

On the reverse side of 2005 American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins, you will find the heraldic eagle of the United States. This icon of America is the official symbol of the federal government and is regularly modernized and modified for use on American denominations. This particular version of the symbol was created in 1986 by John Mercanti.

History

The 2005 American Eagle Silver Coin had a mintage of 8,891,025 coins. The growth in mintage from 2004 to 2005 was one of the most minuscule increases in the history of the program. The 2004 coin sold a total of 8,882,754, making the increase from 2004 to 2005 a scant 9,000 coins. The next year, 2006, would see demand for the coins shoot to a temporary second-highest mintage of 10.6 million coins on the 20th anniversary of the series.
