History
The 2006 American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coin was released during the 20th-anniversary celebration of the series and, like other coins in the collection, enjoyed renewed interest amidst an anniversary year. With a mintage of 285,006 coins, the 2006 American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coin was well represented in the 20th-anniversary release.
Obverse
With the obverse of the coin, you will be treated to the iconic design of Lady Liberty which was uniquely designed by no other than Augustus Saint-Gaudens who was commissioned by Theodore Roosevelt to create a design for the coin in 1907. It features Lady Liberty as she strides away from Washington DC in a flowing gown and a flaming torch. She is surrounded by 50 stars and the word Liberty.
Reverse
For the reverse, you will find on all of the American Eagle Gold coins the standard design of the bald eagle family which was brought to life by Miley Busiek. It features a male bald eagle soaring high over a nest of hatchlings. The female eagle protects her nest with majestic might while watching the head of her family come home with an olive branch in her talons.
