2006 was a historic year for the American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin from the United States Mint. Demand for the coins hit levels not seen since the first two years of availability and the release marked the 20th anniversary of the popular series. To mark the occasion, the US Mint introduced both a new annual-issue collectible coin and a one-time commemorative coin with reverse proof visuals. Provident Metals currently has near-perfect 2006-P American Eagle Reverse Proof 1 oz Silver Coins available to you for online purchasing.
Highlights:
When you purchase the 2006-P American Eagle Reverse Proof 1 oz Silver in this listing, you receive a coin packaged inside of a protective plastic slab. Each one comes with a PF69 certification from the NGC indicating the presence of full, original mint luster with no more than two minor detracting flaws. Acceptable flaws at this grade level include only minuscule contact marks or hairlines that must be located outside of the primary focal points.
Obverse
The obverse side of 2006-P American Eagle Reverse Proof 1 oz Silver Coins features the popular bust of Walking Liberty. Shown in left-profile relief, Liberty walks toward the sun on the horizon with her right hand outstretched, the American flag over her shoulders, and branches of oak and laurel in her left hand. Inscriptions include Liberty, In God We Trust, and 2006.
Reverse
On the reverse face of the 2006-P American Eagle Reverse Proof 1 oz Silver Coin is the image of the heraldic eagle of the United States of America. The design shows the bird with the US national shield on its chest as it looks to the left and the talon holding the olive branch of peace, while the other talon clutches the arrows of war. A triangular cluster of 13 stars over its head represents the original American colonies. Inscriptions read United States of America, E Pluribus Unum on the ribbon in the birds beak, and 1 oz. Fine Silver One Dollar.
History
2006 marked the 20th anniversary of the American Eagle Silver Series. These special reverse proof coins were struck at the Philadelphia Mint for use in a three-coin set alongside a traditional proof and the new burnished version of the coin. Reverse proof coins have mirrored, raised design elements overlaying a background field that is frosted.
