Provident Metals is pleased to offer you the 2006-W Burnished American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin through this product listing with a near-perfect certification. The NGC issues a Mint State 69 certification to coins that exhibit full, original mint luster and a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. Examples of acceptable flaws at this grade level include only minuscule contact marks or hairlines that must be located outside of the primary focal points of the coin.

Obverse

Walking Liberty is depicted in the obverse field of the 2006-W Burnished American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin. This design comes from Adolph A. Weinman and was created in 1916. It features a full-length figure of Liberty in left-profile relief as she walks toward the sun cresting a mountain peak on the horizon. She extends her right hand toward the brightness of the sun as she carries branches of oak and laurel in her left hand while her figure is draped in the American flag. The inscriptions on this face of the coin include LIBERTY, 2006, and IN GOD WE TRUST.

Reverse

The heraldic eagle of the United States is found on the reverse side of 2006-W Burnished American Eagle Silver Coins. This design was modified for this release in 1986 by John Mercanti and features a powerful bald eagle in front-facing relief. The eagle supports the US National Shield with the arrows of war and olive branch of peace in its talons. The design field includes a triangular cluster of 13 stars overhead. Inscriptions on this side of the coin include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, 1 OZ. FINE SILVER, ONE DOLLAR, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the W mint mark of the West Point Mint.

History

The 2006 release of the American Eagle Silver Coins marked the 20th anniversary of the series and introduced a new option for collectors in the form of the burnished coin. The burnished coins have a matte finish that contrasts with that of both the BU and Proof versions of the coin.
