Reverse

On the reverse field of 2006-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins is an image of the heraldic eagle of the United States. Designed for this series by John Mercanti, this version of the heraldic eagle was modernized in 1986 for the American Eagle Series. It shows the bald eagle supporting the US National Shield in front-facing relief as it clutches the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace. Inscriptions on this face of the coin read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1 OZ FINE SILVER, ONE DOLLAR, and the W mint mark of the West Point Mint.

History

The release of 2006 American Eagle Silver Coins included four options. The traditional BU and Proof coins in the series, as well as the new Burnished coin. The 2006 release offered a three-coin set with a version of the Proof American Eagle, the new Burnished American Eagle, and a one-time Reverse Proof American Eagle.
