History

The Burnished American Eagle Silver Coin was introduced in 2006 by the United States Mint as part of the 20^th-anniversary celebration of the series. These 2008 coins are special not only for the perfect certification, but also for the uniqueness of its date mark. This was the last issue of the burnished coin before a two-year hiatus in 2009 and 2010. Its overall mintage of 533,757 coins remains second-best in the series to date as the return of the coins in 2011 has failed to see demand surge as high as the original 2006-2008 issues.
