The 2009 US Mint Proof Quarters Set was the last issue of circulation proof quarters based on the State Quarters Program. Introduced in 1999, the State Quarters Program ran through 2008 and inspired this final six-coin release in 2009 to represent the District of Columbia and the countrys five overseas territories. Provident Metals now has 2009 US Mint Proof Quarters Sets available to purchase online.

Highlights:

  • Arrives with a plastic holder and outer shipping box!
  • Singular release in the DC and US Territories Program!
  • Offers six coins from the 2009 DC and US Territories Program!
  • Issued individual face values of $.25 (USD) by the government of the United States.
  • The obverse depicts President George Washington.
  • On the reverse are six different designs for the represented regions in this release.
  • Please remember that while all coins and the plastic holder are in good condition, some sets may be lacking the outer shipper or other pieces.

When you purchase a 2009 US Mint Proof Quarters Set through this Provident Metals listing, you will receive a coin set with a plastic holder containing six individual 2009-dated quarters. The plastic holder may or may not come with an outer shipper. Whether you receive one or not is based on what is in stock when your payment clears. All coins are in good condition, were never circulated, and come with proof visuals that include frosted designs and mirrored fields.

Designs

The obverse of each coin in the 2009 US Mint Proof Quarters Sets comes with a portrait of President George Washington. Designed by John Flanagan in 1932, this design replaced the Standing Liberty Quarter design and marked the bicentennial of Washingtons birth in 1732. On the reverse of each of the six coins is a different design honoring Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, Guam, the US Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands.

History

The combined State Quarters Program (1999-2008) and the DC and US Territories Program (2009) served as a predecessor for the America the Beautiful Series. While the former two collections were produced for circulation use and issued only as proof coins in sets such as this one, the America the Beautiful Series was conceived as a 5 oz silver bullion program with 56 designs in total that would represent the same regions featured in the State Quarters and DC and US Territories Programs.
