Hot Springs National Park is the oldest federally protected site in the United States of America. It is more than 50 years older than the next oldest park and was established as Hot Springs Reservation by an Act of Congress in April 1832. Congress set aside the land as a recreational area and has numerous hot springs that have long been believed to possess medicinal powers.
