The decade from 2008 to 2018 was one of the strongest periods of demand, on average, that the American Eagle Gold Series has ever experienced. This period saw the ups and downs of demand resulting from the Great Recession, as well as political uncertainty in the mid-2010s. All of this helped establish some near-record years for the series, while also holding demand higher in the years in between. Today, you have the chance to get 2011 American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coins online from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
2011 was the 25th anniversary of the American Eagle Series. This marked 25 years from the 1986 release of American Eagle Gold and Silver Coins. In this particular instance, 2011 also marked a return to production of the Burnished American Eagles after a two-year hiatus in 2009 and 2010. This was also just the second year back for Proof coins after missing a first date mark ever in 2009.
Obverse
On the obverse of 2011 American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coins is Lady Liberty. Created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, this 1907 design shows Liberty walking forward with a torch held up in her right hand as her clutches an olive branch. The field includes the U.S. Capitol Building at her feet, sun rays on the horizon, and a ring of 50 stars around the edge of the field. The inscriptions include LIBERTY and 2011.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 2011 American Eagle Gold Coin comes with a depiction of a family of bald eagles. Created by Miley Busiek, this 1986 design shows a male eagle in flight over a large nest that contains a female eagle and her hatchlings. Inscriptions on this side read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1/4 OZ. FINE GOLD, and 10 DOLLARS.
History
The 2011 release came as the Great Recession was finally beginning to ease. Starting in 2008, demand for gold increased, with the high-water mark coming early on in 2009. However, demand remained strong through 2013, with another uptick in demand through 2016 before demand dropped steadily through 2019.
Ordering
These 2011 American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coins are available to purchase in protective flips. The mintage of just 80,000 coins marks a drop of 6,000 from the previous year and a drop of 40,000 from the recent high of 110,000 coins in 2009.
