Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Silver Coins were the first .9999 pure silver bullion coins available when introduced by the Royal Canadian Mint in 1988. Though 2018 saw several coin programs at the Perth Mint expand to include .9999 pure silver among its range of annual-release silver bullion coins, the Canadian Maple Leaf remains the standard-bearer among pure silver coins.

Obverse

Queen Elizabeth II is depicted on the obverse side of 2011 Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Silver Coins. Her Majesty is shown on these coins in right-profile relief in a portrait created by Susanna Blunt. Designed in 2003 for the Royal Canadian Mint, it is the fourth-generation portrait of the Queen to feature on Canadian coins and is just the second created by a Canadian artist. Also notable in this design is the lack of a crown or tiara on the Queens head, a first during her reign and the first time since the latter stages of King George VIs reign.

Reverse

Walter Ott developed the sugar maple leaf image featured on these coins in 1979 for the debut of the Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Gold Coins. It has featured on the reverse of the silver bullion coins in this series since the 1988 debut of the silver option. The sugar maple leaf is the most common maple species throughout central and western Canada, and is one of the most common maple species across the whole of North America.

History

Canadian Maple Leaf bullion coins offer something for any investor. The collection launched in 1979 with a gold bullion coin, expanded in 1988 with the silver and platinum versions, and grew further in the 1990s with the introduction of a palladium bullion version of the coin. All coins share the same obverse and reverse designs.

Ordering

These 2011 Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Silver Coins are available to you in near-perfect condition. Coins in Mint State 69 condition have full, original mint luster and a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. Acceptable flaws at this grade include only minuscule contact marks or hairlines.
