The heraldic eagle is the official emblem of the federal government and shows the American bald eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch in its talon while boasting the US national shield on its chest. There is a triangular cluster of 13 stars over its head representing the original colonies that rebelled to form the nation.

History

2013 American Eagle Silver Coins sold an impressive 42.675 million coins even with a wide range of additional coins offered that year. The proof series sold 934,000 of its traditional proofs, as well as an additional 281,000 reverse proof coins from the West Point Mint. The burnished coin sold 222,000 of its traditional issue and an extra 281,000 enhanced burnished coins from the West Point Mint.
