Great Basin National Park in the US state of Nevada was first established in 1922, but for more than 60 years it went by a different name. First established by President Warren G. Harding as the Lehman Caves National Monument, the park was renamed and reorganized in 1986. It is the representative site for Nevada in the US Mints America the Beautiful Series of silver coins. Provident Metals currently offers near-perfect 2013 ATB Great Basin 5 oz Silver Coins for purchase online.

Highlights:

  • Arrives with a protective plastic slab courtesy of the PCGS!
  • 3rd issue of 2013 and the 18th coin in the overall ATB silver series!
  • Limited number of certified silver coins!
  • Contains 5 Troy oz of .999 pure silver.
  • Issued a face value of $.25 (USD) by the government of the United States.
  • Bears a Grade of Mint State 69 from the Professional Coin Grading Service.
  • The obverse depicts George Washington.
  • On the reverse is a bristlecone pine from Great Basin National Park.

When you purchase the 2013 ATB Great Basin 5 oz Silver Coin in this product listing, Provident Metals ships you a coin that earned a Mint State 69 certification from the PCGS. Coins in this condition showcase full, original mint luster and a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. Examples of flaws that are acceptable at this level include only minuscule contact marks or hairlines that must be located outside the primary focal points of the coins.

Obverse

The obverse side of the 2013 ATB Great Basin 5 oz Silver Coin comes with a left-profile portrait of President George Washington. The Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army, Washington went on to serve as the first President of the United States for two terms in office. He voluntarily stepped down after two terms, setting a moral guideline for presidents that would be adhered to until the administration of President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Reverse

On the reverse face, the 2013 ATB Great Basin 5 oz Silver Coin depicts a lone bristlecone pine tree within the bounds of Great Basin National Park. The bristlecone pine is the oldest known nonclonal organism and the park is home to a vast number of these ancient trees.

History

Great Basin National Park is named for the Great Basin, a dry range between the mountains of the Sierra Nevada and the Wasatch ranges. The park is situated 290 miles to the north of Las Vegas and encompasses a total of 77,180 acres of land.
