Featuring a variety of historic parks, sites and landmarks around the United States, the 2013 America the Beautiful Silver Coin Series presents investors and collectors with a stunning collection of 5 oz .999 fine silver coins. The 2013 series is the fourth year of the ATB program.
The fourth of five coins to be released in 2013, the Fort McHenry Silver Coin commemorates the battle at Fort McHenry during the War of 1812. Located in Baltimore, Maryland, Fort McHenry successfully defended Baltimore Harbor against an attack from the British Navy from the night of September 13 through the morning of the 14. It was this attack that inspired Francis Scott Key to pen the Star-Spangled Banner, a poem which was later set to music and designated to be America’s national anthem.
As with all the other ATB Quarters, the 5 oz Fort McHenry silver coin contains .999 fine silver. The obverse features a restored portrait of George Washington that was originally used on the 1932 Washington Quarter. The reverse side features an image of Fort McHenry, along with the American flag waving in victory and two distinct fireworks shooting up into the sky. In addition, the words “FORT McHENRY,” “MARYLAND,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” along with the date 2013 are all engraved.

I love these ATB 5-ounce coins, and I think this is one of the coolest ones. How can you go wrong with fireworks?"

"
My first ATB so I don?t have anything for comparison. But overall this thing is really cool. The 5 oz ATB really is one heavy piece of ag in your hand. It does have some flaws, not a lot, but remember this is the bullion version. If you want perfection, order the ?P? marked one from the mint and pay the heavy premium. I like it so much I?m probably going to grab the Mount Rushmore as well. Also can?t wait for Ellis Island in a few years.
I?m giving it 5 stars, even with a few flaws, because I?m aware this is the bullion version. If it was the numismatic version sent to me, it would only get 4 stars. " |
