These gold coins were among the National Baseball Hall of Fame Coins issued by the United States Mint in 2014. These are the first-ever domed gold coins from the US Mint. The mint was inspired by a 2009 astronomy-themed release from the Paris Mint and the US Mint worked with both the Royal Australian Mint and Perth Mint on the technology for coining domed bullion legal tender.
