The Morgan Peace Dollar was issued by the United States Mint from 1878 -1904, and for a time again in 1921. It was the first silver dollar to be minted following the Coinage Act of 1873, which halted production of free silver coining.
The Silver Shield Series was designed by Heidi Wastweet to celebrate our individual and collective freedoms. The trivium symbol — which appears on each side of the round — represents freedom from manipulation or adverse thinking that could impede upon reaching a goal. The obverse features a left-facing profile of a woman with long, wavy hair. She wears a hoop earring in her left ear and has a trivium tattoo on her left shoulder. “FREEDOM” is inscribed adjacent to the rim.
A Silver Shield logo is the centerpiece of the reverse. The intricate design depicts a trivium wrapped inside the Flower of Life. “5 AVDP OUNCE,” “.999 PURE CU,” “SILVER SHIELD” and the date are engraved inside a decorative border.

The coin? Absolutely GORGEOUS. But please, HEED MY WARNING. Unless you have an airtite or flip on hand that will somehow fit this beautiful, massive thing, IT COMES IN A PVC RIDDEN FLIP. I was so depressed when I opened the package and all I smelled was a shower curtain. Again, the coin is absolutely perfect. But I can not give it 5 stars until they fix the flip issue."
