Perth Mint is known for producing many beautiful silver coins; however, the Australian Koala coins are some of the most popular and world renown. Each year, a brand-new design is released in both gold and silver to celebrate these unique Australian animals. You can purchase the 2015 Proof Australian Koala 1 oz Silver Coin from Provident Metals today.
Highlights:
Every year, the Australian Koala coins are released in both gold and silver with both bullion and proof options. While the focal point of the reverse design changes each year, the theme is always based around the koala.
These coins are struck with a high-relief design, while gives them a more 3D appearance. To create this effect, the coins are struck multiple times with a die cast. Additionally, they have a proof finish.
Obverse
On the obverse side of all Australian Koala coins, you will find the image of Queen Elizabeth II. In this image, she is shown in right-profile. This particular design was created by Ian Rank-Broadley in the 1990s.
Reverse
The reverse image is that of the koala. In this release, the koala is shown sitting in the crook of a tree. The marsupial gazes off into the distance. In the background, you can see the Outbacks rolling hills.
History
These coins are produced annually by the Perth Mint. As the oldest operating facility in Australia, Perth Mint coins are considered legal tender in the country. However, Perth Mint isnt associated with the Royal Australian Mint. Instead, it was once part of the Royal Mints operating facilities in Australia, which included mints in both Melbourne and Sydney.
