The 1991 issue year for Mexican Libertad Silver Coins saw the series expand for the first time. In 1991, the Libertad coins grew from just a 1 oz silver coin to include a 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, and 1/20 oz coin. Further expansions came in 1996 and 2008 when the Mexican Mint introduced 2 oz and 5 oz coins, followed by a 1 Kilogram coin.

Obverse

The obverse field of all 2015 Mexican Libertad 1/20 oz Silver Coins includes the depiction of Winged Victory. Based on the Roman goddess Nike, the goddess of victory, her figure is shown as she is depicted atop the Mexican Independence Victory Column in Mexico City. In the background field, the peaks of Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl feature along with inscriptions of the weight, purity, metal content, date of issue, and mint mark from the Mexican Mint.

Reverse

On the reverse of 2015 Mexican Libertad 1/20 oz Silver Coins, you will find a depiction of the Mexican Coat of Arms. The fractional-ounce coins in this series have only the modern coat of arms for Mexico that features a powerful Mexican golden eagle battling a serpent on a cactus branch. Inscriptions around it include Estados Unidos Mexicanos, with a wreath below.

History

The fractional-ounce coins in the Mexican Libertad Silver collection have been available from the Mexican Mint each year since 1991. There was an exception in 2012 when the 1/20 oz coin was not issued, the only fractional-ounce coin in the series to have been suspended at any point since introduction.
