The second largest coin in the Mexican Libertad Silver series is the 5 oz coin. From its introduction in 1996 until 2008 when the 1 Kilo coin debuted, it was the largest coin in the series offering plenty of surface area for the strike of Winged Victory on the obverse and the Mexican Coat of Arms on the reverse. Provident Metals currently offers the 2015 Mexican Libertad 5 oz Silver Coin for purchase online in near-perfect condition.

When you purchase a 2015 Mexican Libertad 5 oz Silver Coin in this listing at Provident Metals, the coin you receive comes in Mint State 69 condition. This grade indicates the coins show full, original mint luster with a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. Examples of acceptable flaws at this grade level include only minuscule contact marks or hairlines found outside the primary focal points of the design field.

Also available with these particular coins is the Early Release label. ER labels mean the NGC or an approved third-party depository received the coins within 30 days of the Mexican Mint releasing them for sale.

Obverse

On the obverse side of the 2015 Mexican Libertad 5 oz Silver Coin is a depiction of Winged Victory. The image featured here is captured from the Mexican Independence Victory Column. The column was constructed in Mexico City in 1921 to mark 100 years of independence and topped with the figure of Winged Victory, a symbol of resistance and Mexican victory over Spanish colonial rule in 1821.

Reverse

The reverse of 2015 Mexican Libertad 5 oz Silver Coins has enough room to show off the modern coat of arms in the center, as well as 10 historical versions of the seal around the outer design field. The modern arms of Mexico includes a powerful Mexican golden eagle perched on a cactus as it does battle with a serpent.

History

The Mexican Mint first expanded its silver bullion Libertad collection in 1991 with the addition of 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, and 1/20 oz coins. The next expansion of the series saw the introduction of a 2 oz and 5 oz silver coin in 1996. The final expansion came in 2008 with the debut of the 1 Kilo coin.
