The Rwandan Wildlife Series made its debut in 2008. The program was set up to introduce a new coin design every year, featuring one of the incredible species that can be found living in Africa.

The Rwandan Wildlife Series coins debuted with the Gorilla design. The extremely low mintage of just 5,000 coins that first year makes the Rwandan African Gorilla the most coveted coin in the series to date. Mintage has increased over time, but even the 2015 Rwandan African Buffalo has a low mintage that generates incredible demand.

The 2015 1 oz Rwandan African Buffalo Silver Coin has been issued a Mint State 70 grade, by the NGC. This coin is considered to be perfect. It has no detracting flaws anywhere on the surface of the coin.

Obverse

The obverse design of the 2015 1 oz Rwandan African Buffalo Silver Coin features the national seal of Rwanda. The seal features symbols of local tribes, and a traditional hut of the Banyarwanda people. Also engraved on the obverse design are the Rwandan motto, the name of the Central Bank of Rwanda as written in the Kinyarwanda language, and the country of issue for the coin.

Reverse

The reverse design of the 2015 1 oz Rwandan African Buffalo Silver Coin features the image of a Cape Buffalo adult and a calf. An outline of the African continent is shown on the obverse of each design in the series. The outline shows some of the geological formations of the continent, including the rugged, mountainous interior and the Nile River.

The 2015 1 oz Rwandan African Buffalo Silver Coin is issued for the landlocked Republic of Rwanda by the German Mint. With a tumultuous history, Rwanda is one of the smallest African nations. It being positioned in the African Great Lakes Region means that it has a rich abundance of wildlife.
