Add the 2016 1 oz Silver Britannia to your Silver Bullion investments. Each coin is manufactured by the British Royal Mint with one troy ounce of .999 fine silver, and backed by British Government. Because the Royal Mint employs strict production and quality standards, and because this coin is backed by a sovereign government, each silver coin may be included in a self directed Precious Metals IRA.
Britannia, the female embodiment of Great Britain, is featured on the reverse of each 1 oz silver round holding Poseidon’s trident in her right hand and an olive branch and shield in her left. “Britannia” is the Roman and Greek term for the geographical region that is Great Britain. Inscriptions around the edge of the image read “2016,” “1 oz 999 FINE SILVER” and “BRITANNIA.”
The obverse features the a new portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark, Royal Mint engraver. Her Majesty’s right-facing profile is the fifth portrait of The Queen to be depicted on United Kingdom coinage, and it celebrates Queen Elizabeth II becoming the longest reigning British monarch in history. The coin’s weight and denominated are inscribed.
Like other sovereign mint bullion, the Royal Mint Britannia is common in most Bullion investment portfolios. The British government guarantees this silver coin’s weight and purity, and silver Britannias may serve as legal tender. Silver Britannias are a yearly release since 1997, and are highly coveted by coin collectors and investors alike.
The Royal Mint produces each 2016 Silver Britannias in Brilliant Uncirculated Condition – all coins will be shipped in the exact condition they were received in from the mint. Individual Britannias will ship in a plastic flips.

…just received the Britannia in another shipment of CSMLs – the Britannia is exceptional in design – the lines are clean and distinctly raised on relief…from the fluted narrow ring inside the rim bordering the date & inscription channeled by a discreet inner ring that ends at the base – the relief of the female is flowing with uninterrupted force – the entire reverse is enchanting. The obverse is not lacking for detail such as the distinct regalia on her majesty’s crown. Yet the sand paint textured field is overpowering. In contrast the field on the reverse presents well as it ends at the inner ring; and the relief stands out from the field. Too much “gravelly” on the front face – a C+, the reverse an A+, in my opinion, of course to each their own – beauty indeed, is in the eye of the beholder.

I have found the Silver Britannia to be an exceptional coin in design and detail – a lot of class. The reverse relief cascades with flowing lines and symbolic elements that is enchanting.
The obverse serves her majesty with dignity in design and regalia…wish the fields were still smooth as the 2013 & 14 issues – hence 4 star for the 2016s. For many folks the raised texture fields bodes well giving them a high quality coin for the price.

Beautiful sovereign bullion coin that is perfect for anyone’s stack – the backing and credibility of a sovereign mint, beautiful design (love the new Jody Clark ‘5th Effigy’ of QEII), for a great price. I have to think HM’s Government is dumping these at nearly their cost to grow market share in the bullion game – I can’t think of any other reason why these coins are less expensive than the ASE, the Libertad and sometimes even the Maple – but I’ll enjoy it while the low prices last. If you have to spend these if or when SHTF, no one will question their authenticity; in the meantime, enjoy owning these lovely coins.

When Provident says these coins are shipped in brilliant uncirculated condition, they mean BRILLIANT. I was awestruck when I pulled the Britannias out of the mailer. What a shine! The mottled background texture provides a nice contrast and is a perfect backdrop to further accentuate the coin’s brilliance. Anyone who would purchase an ASE over one of these needs to see a therapist, especially considering that these (currently) have between $0.50 to $1.25 lower premium per coin, depending on the quantity purchased. Can’t go wrong with a 2016 Britannia!

This seems to be the British gov. minted version of the silver eagle. The price is almost a dollar less per coin than the SE, and a great buy with current silver prices. Also I think these are the prettiest coins I have purchased, with the usual great service from Provident.
