John Mercanti, the 12th former Chief Engraver of the United States Mint, is responsible for three different designs in this stellar collection since its 2014 debut. He started to work with the Perth Mint in 2014 specifically to create the Australian Wedge Tailed Eagle series. He launched his career in the 1970s and ended his historic run with the US Mint in 2010.
Obverse
For the obverse field of the 2016 Wedge Tailed Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin, you will be excited to find the iconic effigy of Queen Elizabeth II engraved. She is featured in a polished manner from a side profile relief, along with her crown and stoic gaze. This image is featured with the inscriptions ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, 2016, and the weight and purity of the coin.
Reverse
In the reverse design of the 2016 Australian Wedge Tailed Eagle Silver Coin, you will be treated to an exquisite design from the mind of John Mercanti. It featured the image of a Wedge Tail Eagle on a broken branch gazing to the side in its search for prey. Here you will also find the inscriptions AUSTRALIAN WEDGE TAIL EAGLE, 2016 1 oz .999 SILVER, and a P mint mark from the Perth Mint.
