Norse mythology is no stranger to the precious metals market. Since this topic has become an inspiration for a lot of mints, it is hard to stand out. The coins in this listing feature the Norse God Loki, who is one of the most hated members of the Norse God family. Known as the God of fire and evil, he is notorious for his mischief and scheming, even against members of his own family, like Thor.

Obverse

Queen Elizabeth II is featured on the obverse face of all Cook Islands coins. The image used on these coins was created in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley. As the fourth-generation image of the Queen to appear on commonwealth coinage since she took the throne in 1952, this right-profile portrait is well-known to precious metals collectors and investors.

Reverse

The reverse face of each coin contains the image of Loki. Known as the God of evil and fire, he wears a terrifying mask with tall horns. You will also see a variety of animals in the background. These are the animals that he was believed to transform into on a regular basis.

History

These coins were minted at the BH Mayer Mint. Located in Germany, this privately-owned mint was founded in 1871. Today, it is still operated by the founding family under the fifth-generation of owners.
