With multiple releases each year, the series was designed to celebrate the First Spouses of the nation ranging from Martha Washington up to Barbara Bush. The second-last release was devoted to Nancy Reagan, who was renowned for her dedication to a high-profile anti-drug campaign. The phrase “Just Say No” was the catchphrase of that campaign, first spoken in 1984 as the First Lady’s response to a schoolgirl’s question about what to do if peers offered her drugs. The campaign went on to produced school-run anti-drug programs and “Just Say No” clubs nationwide, and Mrs. Reagan traveled a total of over a quarter-million miles for appearances promoting it.
