The Argentine Military Dictatorship ruling Argentina at the time suffered losses of 649 killed, 1,657 wounded, and 11,313 captured. This on top of the sinking of a cruiser and submarine among its major losses. The United Kingdom lost 2 destroyers and 2 frigates from the Royal Navy and 255 soldiers with an additional 775 wounded and 115 captured.

On the obverse of the 2017 Falkland Islands Anniversary of Liberation 1 oz Silver Coin is the Pobjoy Mints exclusive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is depicted in right-profile relief with the George IV State Diadem Crown on her head. With 1,333 diamonds in its design totaling more than 300 karats, the State Diadem Crown is worn only during the State Opening of Parliament.

The result of the British liberation of its island territories of the Falkland Islands was increased popularity at home in the UK for British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and the end of the Argentine Military Dictatorship. In the aftermath, Argentina returned to democratic governance.
