These coins feature the Red Dragon of Wales, which has been considered to be the symbol of Wales since Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II announced it in 1959. Each of the coins contains 5 Troy oz of .999 pure silver and a face value of 10. This fifth-generation effigy was designed by Jody Clark for the Royal Mint. Her Majesty has been featured on British coinage since 1952. She is the longest-reigning monarch in the history of England.

The reverse design of the 2018 Proof British Queens Beast Dragon 5 oz Silver Coin features the image of the Red Dragon of Wales. With deep roots going back to 6th-century tales of a dragon of Cadwallader, the Red Dragon has been the official symbol of Wales since 1959.
