On the reverse face of 2018 Proof Rwandan Endeavor Nautical Ounce Silver Coins is the national coat of arms. The coat of arms comes with a depiction of a traditional pot at the center, flanked on either side immediately by coffee and sorghum. These elements are flanked by traditional tribal shields. The design field includes inscriptions in Kinyarwanda, the native tongue of Rwandans, that read Banki Nkuru Yu Rwanda and Amafaranga 50 Mirongo Itanu.

History

The HMS Endeavor was berthed as the Earl of Pembroke in 1764, but after being acquired by the Royal Navy in 1768 was renamed the Endeavor. Under the command of Lieutenant James Cook, the HMS Endeavor departed Plymouth, England, that same year and rounded Cape Horn at the tip of South America. From there, the ship dotted the islands of Tahiti before anchoring off New Zealand. Later it would become the first ship to reach the east coast of Australia.
