The coin contains 1 Troy oz of .999 pure silver and was issued a face value of 5,000 Francs, considered to be legal tender and backed by the Republic of Chad. The 2018 Republic of Chad Lion 1 oz Silver Coin is the 4th beautiful new coin in the African Lion Series of Silver Coins. Introduced in 2015 by Sunshine Minting, the collection first featured the nation of Burundi as the issuing nation of the coin. The first year release of the coins featured a male lion accompanied by a lioness lying in the fields with a tree in the background. Each of the coins that followed in 2016 and 2017 featured a fresh new design and a new nation of issue.
The 2018 Republic of Chad Lion 1 oz Silver Coin was issued on behalf of the Republic of Chad. It follows the popular 2017 silver coin, also issued by the Republic of Chad, featured a solo crouching lioness as she stalked her prey through the tall grass.
Obverse
The obverse design of the 2018 Republic of Chad Lion 1 oz Silver Coin features the same design of each of the coins in the series. The reverse features a map of the African continent, with the nation of issue highlighted. This coin features the landlocked nation of the Republic of Chad. The other countries in Africa are not recognizable by national boundaries, but the Republic of Chad is visible as a mirrored section within the otherwise matte appearance of the continental map.
Reverse
The reverse design of the 2018 Republic of Chad Lion 1 oz Silver Coin features the image of a proud male lion. The lion has a full mane that dominates most of the design on the coin. His face is stoic as he surveys his surroundings, protecting his pride.
