The Somalia Elephant Series is part of the larger African Wildlife coin series. The series was originally produced for the country of Zambia from 1999 to 2003. The first coins issued under the country of Somalia were minted for 2004. At first, the series only offered silver coins. Eventually, gold coins were added but mintage numbers were low.

Obverse
