Coins with an MS70 grade are considered perfect specimens. They will have their full, original mint lust and no detracting flaws.

Obverse

On the obverse side of each coin, you will see Queen Elizabeth IIs effigy. She is featured in right-profile relief in the image created by Jody Clark. This is the fifth image of Her Majesty used on British coinage.

Reverse

The reverse image of each of these coins features the Yale of Beaufort. This creature was brought to the royal arms by King Henry VII. A Yale is a mythical beast with the form of a goat or antelope with winding horns. It is said that this beast can turn its horns independently. Yales also have the tusks of a boar.

The Yale is seen supporting a shield with Henry VIIs badge. The shield comes from Lady Margaret Beaufort, Henry VIIs mother.

History

These coins are produced by the Royal Mint in the United Kingdom, which was established in 886, more than 1000 years ago. The government-owned facility makes all of the nations coinage. Additionally, the Royal Mint produces circulation coins for both domestic and international use, exporting coins to around 60 countries each year.
