The coin and case are housed inside of a blue dragon-and-tiger-themed shipper with golden stenciled artwork of the two creatures. Obverse
Queen Elizabeth II is depicted in the sixth-generation Australian coin portrait on the obverse of 2019 Proof Australian Dragon and Tiger 1 oz Silver Coins. This effigy of Her Majesty comes from Jody Clark and is the first monarch portrait on an Australian coin since 1966 to feature the Queens neckline and shoulders in the artwork. The Queen wears the George IV State Diadem Crown in this portrait. The crown was commissioned in 1820 by King George IV shortly after he rose to the throne and is traditionally worn only for the State Opening of Parliament.
Reverse
A dragon and tiger are shown circling the flaming pearl on the reverse field of the 2019 Proof Australian Dragon and Tiger 1 oz Silver Coin. The two creatures often reflect different realities when paired together, such as light and dark, good and evil. The tiger is a symbol of power, courage, and patience, while the dragon is an equalizer and a protector.
History
The Dragon and Tiger is the latest design from the Perth Mint in a broader collection of dragon-themed designs that have included a Double Dragon issue and a Dragon and Phoenix release. Each coin comes from the Perth Mint with a P mint mark on the reverse field.
