Obverse

Winged Victory is depicted here as inspired by the gold Centenario and derived from the statue of her figure at the top of the Mexican Independence Victory Column in Mexico City. In the background, the mountain peaks of Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl are depicted.

The former is known as smoking mountain and is located outside of Mexico City. The latter is known as white woman for its resemblance to a woman lying down. The four peaks of Iztaccihuatl, when viewed from the east or west, resemble the head, chest, knees, and feet of a woman.

Reverse

2019 Proof Mexican Libertad 1 oz Gold Coins are available with the modern Mexican coat of arms on the reverse. This symbol includes a Mexican golden eagle on the arm of a cactus as it battles to control a serpent with its beak and talons. Above is an inscription of Estados Unidos Mexicanos and below is a wreath. Around the outermost rim of the design field, you will notice 10 different versions of this same seal.
