Proof Mexican Libertad Silver Coins debuted in 1983 with a 1 oz coin, but were not regularly issued on an annual basis until 1986. Since then, the series has expanded twice. In 1992, fractional-ounce coins were added in weights of 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, and 1/20 oz. In 1996, these 2 oz coins were introduced along with the 5 oz coin.
