The Bavarian State Mint first issued the Somalia Elephant coin series in 1999 for Zambia. The coins were produced for Zambia primarily as 1 oz silver and 1 oz gold bullion options until 2003. In 2004, the series switched to Somalia and continued. Since 2016, the series has undergone impressive growth.
