Obverse

The obverse of the 2020-W Burnished American Eagle Palladium Coin features a left-profile portrait of Liberty. Officially known as Winged Liberty, this visual of Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap was created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman. It featured on the US Dime from 1916 to 1945 and was commonly known by the American public as the Mercury Dime because Liberty resembled the Roman messenger god Mercury. The inscriptions on this face of the coin include Liberty, In God We Trust, 2020, the AW initials of Weinman, and the W mint mark of the West Point Mint.

Reverse

On the reverse side of 2020-W Burnished American Eagle 1 oz Palladium Coins is an American bald eagle. The bald eagle shown here was created by Weinman in 1907 for the American Institute of Architects gold medal. It features an American eagle on a rock ledge with its talon and beak pulling at a small sapling growing from the rock. The inscriptions on this side read United States of America, $25, 1 oz. Pd .9995 Fine, and E Pluribus Unum.

History

The Burnished American Eagle Palladium Coin is the fourth version of the new American Eagle Palladium coin issued. The US Mint released the coin as a Brilliant Uncirculated specimen in 2017, a proof coin in 2018, a reverse proof coin in 2019, and as this burnished coin in 2020. The burnished coins from the US Mint have clean, matte visuals.
