2021 American Eagle Gold Coins were released with two versions of the BU and Proof coins. The original release of BU coins in 2021 featured the Miley Busiek design on the reverse field, while the new Type 2 coins issued from midyear onward have the all-new reverse image of a bald eagle from Jennie Norris.

Obverse

On the obverse side of 2021 American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coins is a depiction of Lady Liberty. This front-facing image of Liberty was created in 1907 and shows her full-length figure walking forward with the sun at her back. As Liberty walks forward, her right hand holds up a torch and her left carries an olive branch. You can see the U.S. Capitol Building at her feet and a ring of 50 stars around the element. Inscriptions on this face of the coin read LIBERTY and 2021.

Reverse

The reverse field of 2021 American Eagle Gold Type 2 Coins features a new image of the American bald eagle. The design shows the head of the bald eagle in left-profile relief with incredible details capturing the natural beauty of the bird. Inscriptions featured on this face include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1/10 OZ. FINE GOLD, and 5 DOLLARS.

History

The all-new reverse design comes from Jennie Norris. Ms. Norris is a member of the United States Mint Artistic Infusion Program. An accomplished graphic designer and professor at the University of Arizona, this is her first major design for the United States Mint.
