This effigy captures the front-facing effigy of Liberty with a full-length figure as she walks toward the viewer. She is shown holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. The design includes the U.S. Capitol Building at her feet, sun rays in the background field, and a ring of 50 stars around the field. The inscriptions on this face include LIBERTY and 2021.

Reverse

A new bald eagle design is found on the reverse side of 2021 American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Type 2 Coins. The image of the bald eagle shows the head of the bird in left-profile relief as its piercing gaze stares right through the viewer. Its hooked beak and plumage are also shown in brilliant detail. The inscriptions on this side read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and 1/4 OZ. FINE GOLD 10 DOLLARS.

History

The new design on the reverse of American Eagle Gold Type 2 Coins comes from Jennie Norris. Ms. Norris is a graphic designer and professor at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. Her design was chosen from more than 30 other options to serve as the new face of the American Eagle Gold Series.
