Obverse
On the obverse side of the 2021 Australian Kookaburra 10 oz Silver Coin is an image of Queen Elizabeth II. The portrait of the Queen shown here is a right-profile bust that is the sixth-generation effigy of the Queen during her reign. This portrait of Her Majesty shows the Queen with the George IV State Diadem Crown on her head. Inscriptions on the design edge include Elizabeth II, Australia, and 10 Dollars.
Reverse
The reverse field of the 2021 Australian Kookaburra Silver Coin comes with a depiction of the kookaburra. The bird is shown on the branch of a gum tree. The kookaburra is resting on its perch with its wings resting at its side and its head looking to the left. The design includes inscriptions of Australian Kookaburra along the top rocker and 2021 10 oz 9999 Silver along the bottom. There is also a P mint mark from the Perth Mint. This face of the coin has a microscopic security letter within the inscription of Australian Kookaburra, a new security element the Perth Mint added to its coins in 2020.
History
The 10 oz silver coin joined the series in 1992, two years after the debut of the series in 1990. The 1992 release included 2 oz, 10 oz, and 1 Kilo coins alongside the 1 oz silver coin. The 2 oz silver coin was halted in 2009. The 2020 Australian Kookaburra 10 oz Silver Coin had a declared mintage of 6,160 coins, a 50% drop from the 2019 release of the coins.
