Queen Elizabeth II is found on the obverse design field of 2021 Australian Wedge Tail Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins. This is the sixth-generation effigy of Her Majesty to feature on Australian coins and the first portrait since 1966 to include her neckline and shoulders. The design shows the Queen aged 89 with the George IV State Diadem Crown on her head. The inscriptions on this side of the coin include Elizabeth II, Australia, and 1 Dollar. You will also notice the JC initials of designer Jody Clark.

Reverse

A wedge tail eagle is shown in the reverse design of the 2021 Australian Wedge Tail Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin. The design is the sixth in the series from John Mercanti and it is the most riveting image to date. In this design, the eagle flexes its wings as it flies through the air with its latest prey in its talons. Here, the eagle uses its powerful talons to clutch a snake as it flies through the sky keeping its powerful gaze on the snake. The inscriptions on this face of the coin include Australian Wedge-Tailed Eagle, the P mint mark of the Perth Mint, and 2021 1 oz 9999 Silver.

History

This years design is the sixth in the Australian Wedge Tail Eagle Series. Mr. Mercantis first design in 2014 was repeated in 2015 on the reverse of those coins. He created a fresh design for the reverse in 2016 that was repeated in 2017. As of 2018, the Australian Wedge Tail Eagle has been issued with new designs on the reverse and enhanced .9999 pure silver content, a boost from the original .999 pure silver content.
