Author Andrzej Sapkowski is the brains behind The Witcher franchise. His first short story about witchers was published in 1986 and was met with rave reviews. The instant demand for his fantasy stories led to 14 more short story releases and a series of novels that started in 1994. He wrote one book each year from 1994 to 1999, and more recently released a standalone prequel in 2013.
