Launched in 2021, the Queens Virtues Series of bullion coins is available as a St. Helena-issued coin with six designs in total planned for the release. Each one of the female allegories to feature in this series represents a figure from the Victoria Memorial in London, a monument honoring Queen Victoria. The allegories refer to the majesty, might, and power of the British Empire as embodied by Queen Victoria and carried into the 21st century by Queen Elizabeth II. The obverse side of 2021 St. Helena Queens Virtues Platinum Coins bears an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. The great-granddaughter of Queen Victoria and now Englands longest-reigning monarch, Elizabeth II appears here in right-profile relief with the George IV State Diadem Crown on her head. The design was created originally in 1985 by Raphael Maklouf for the Royal Mint of England as the third-generation British effigy of the Queen for national coinage. This design includes inscriptions of 100, St. Helena, Queen Elizabeth II, 2021, One Ounce 999.5 Platinum.
On the reverse field of the 2021 St. Helena Queens Virtues Victory Platinum Coin is a depiction of the female allegory known as Victory. The topping piece to the Victoria Memorial in London, the statue of Victory stands here with her right hand raised out in front of her as her left hand clutches a palm branch, an ancient symbol of victory and peace. The inscriptions on this side include Victory Through Harmony.
The Queens Virtues is a reference to the six allegorical figures in the statuesque monument known as the Victoria Memorial in London. Victory stands front and center in this monument, flanked by Constancy and Courage at her feet. At the base of the monument are depictions of Justice and Truth. The sixth Queens Virtue is Charity.
