2021 is set to be a monumental release in the Proof American Eagle Series for both the silver and gold coins. Both coins not only mark a 35^th-anniversary celebration with the 2021 release, but both coins also will debut new reverse design elements later in the year. While those designs have been narrowed down to one per coin, the US Mint is not ready to strike those designs and will debut many of the 2021 American Eagles with the original design combinations.

Obverse

Here, Liberty is shown in front-facing relief as she strides forward holding up her torch to light the way and carrying an olive branch as a sign of peace in the future. The inscriptions on this face of the coin include Liberty, the AW initials of designer Augustus Saint-Gaudens, 2021, and the W mint mark of the West Point Mint.

Reverse

The reverse field of 2021-W Proof American Eagle Gold Coins in this set comes with a depiction of a family of American bald eagles. In this image, a male eagle soars overhead with a branch in its talons. The nest includes a female eagle guarding a young hatchling. This is the last chance to get this design as later issues in 2021 will feature the new reverse design element of the coins.
