The Musikverein is home to the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and hosted its first pipe organ performance in 1872 after the original pipe organ was installed. The current pipe organ in the building was installed in 1907 and refurbished in 2011. The inscriptions on this face include REPUBLIK OSTERREICH, 1/2 UNZE 999.9, 2021, and 50 EURO.

On the reverse side of 2022 Austrian Philharmonic 1/2 oz Gold Coins is an image of various musical instruments. The instruments are arranged around a large cello in the central foreground. This cello is flanked by two violins on each side in the foreground and is accompanied by a French horn, a bassoon, and a harp in the background. The inscription on this side includes WEINER PHILHARMONIKER.

The Austrian Philharmonic bullion coin series is available from the Austrian Mint as the official bullion coin of the nation. It celebrates the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, a national treasure and cultural icon for Austria.
