Obverse

For the obverse design of 2022 Chinese Panda Gold Coins, the mint depicts the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. This design has featured on the coins every year since 1982 and shows the exterior facade of the structure focusing on its entry staircase, as well as the central tower of the building. With a wider design edge, this side includes an inscription in Hanzi of PEOPLES REPUBLIC OF CHINA and the 2022 date mark.

Reverse

In the reverse design of 2022 Chinese Panda 1 Gram Gold Coins is a depiction of two Giant Pandas. This years design shows the playful nature of the creatures as two of them slide down a snowy hill side-by-side. While one panda slides down on its back with all four legs in the air, the other is sliding down head-first on its stomach. The inscriptions on this side include 1 G AU .999 and the face value of 10.

History

Chinese Panda Gold Coins debuted in 1982 with four weights and immediately expanded to a fifth in 1983. The coin series was originally marked in Troy ounces, but has Gram weights as of 2016. This was not the first change to the series. In 2001, the Chinese Mint adjusted the face value of each coin up from the original values.
