All of the coins in this listing were struck directly at the Perth Mint and contain obverse and reverse artwork by Jody Clark and Lucas Bowers, respectively. Obverse
Queen Elizabeth II is depicted on the obverse design of 2022 Colorized Australian Chinese Myths and Legends Phoenix Silver Coins. Her Majesty appears in right-profile relief and wears both the Coronation Necklace and the famous George IV State Diadem. You can find inscriptions on the obverse that read ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, 1 OZ .9999 AG, 2022, 1 DOLLAR.
Reverse
A phoenix colored with orange and gold is seen on the reverse of 2022 Colorized Australian Chinese Myths and Legends Phoenix Coins. In its beak, there is a flower belonging to a tree known as the paulownia. Some sources claim this is the only tree in which a phoenix will sit. Also in the design are textured, swirling clouds, which symbolize good fortune.
History
The Chinese Myths and Legends began in 2017 and has since featured such iconic creatures as the tiger, pixiu, and dragon. The phoenix makes its second appearance in the series with this release, as it was previously paired with the dragon in a coin from 2017. This new 2022 phoenix has been produced in two separate colorized versions, one regular and one vivid. For each colorized coin, there is a special version available in a card, and a regular version in a capsule. For those interested in the non-colorized edition, the Perth Mint has also released a standard BU version.
