Obverse
On the obverse of 2022 Proof Modern Masters St. George & The Dragon 5 oz Silver Coins, there is an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. In this Fifth-Generation portrait from Jody Clark, youll see the Queen wearing both the Coronation Necklace and the George IV State Diadem. Youll also see inscriptions reading ELIZABETH II, ASCENSION ISLAND, and TWENTY FIVE POUNDS.
Reverse
The reverse side of 2022 Proof Ascension Island St. George & The Dragon 5 oz Silver Coins features St. George fighting the dragon. George is shown on the left on a horse and holding a spear. The dragon appears opposite George in a threatening pose as it extends its dangerous claws. A handsome border pattern rounds out the design. The year 2022 is also inscribed.
History
The legendary George and the Dragon reverse by Benedetto Pistrucci was a departure from the Gold Sovereign design. Traditionally, heraldic imagery was used on the Sovereign, but Pistruccis updated design proved to be so popular that it still appears on the Sovereign to this day. For the Modern Masters Series, Great Britains Jody Clark, South Africa’s Natanya Van Niekerk, and John Mercanti of the United States have been tasked with recreating Pistruccis original masterwork.

In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies.
