History
While all countries are welcome to compete in the World Cup, only 32 teams are actually selected for the tournament itself. Qualifying rounds take place in the years leading up to tournament, which occurs once every 4 years. The only country that is guaranteed a spot is the one hosting the event. Historically, there are three countries that have clearly dominated the World Cup. They include Brazil with five wins, and Germany and Italy with four wins each. In 2022, the World Cup will take place in Qatar. Due to its warm climate, the tournament will occur in November and December instead of its usual summer months.
